Has anyone ever been there? I have a day off soon and was thinking of driving up there. How are winnings in Indian Casinos handled? Do you get coins returned from the slots, or a ticket? What about the tables? Anyone have any experience with this?

i used to go all the time (now i go to pauma valley and pala)....

the pay outs from slots can come either through a ticket or coins. state law allows only so many coin-pay out machines in a casino. with the tables, you put your money down, they give you chips, you bet with those. when you are done, you go up the cash-out counter, and turn in your chips/tickets/coins and they will give you cash.

edit: btw, it isnt like vegas, so the drinks arent free either. trust me, i tried. :D

Are you taxed? Or is it only after you win a certain amount?

if you win a certain amount, you have to declare it for taxes. im not completly sure about the number, but i want to say its $2,500. thats why if you go play bingo there, the jackpot at pechanga is $2,499, so you can slip right under getting taxed. of course, im not sure if its $2,500 or $5,000, my memory escapes me...

Thanks.

So is it a cool place to go check out for the day, or is it kinda junky? The website makes it look nice, but I don't know how long I would want to stay at one casino. And I'm assuming there isn't much else around it.

its pretty nice. ever since the renovation, its pretty big now. they have a couple restaurants in there, and a hotel & resort now. i usually eat at the pechanga cafe inside the casino. keep in mind also, that they dont charge tax. so if you order a $5 item on the menu, your bill is going to be $5. also, if you dont like the smell of smoke, they have seperate area's for smoking and non-smoking. chances are though, eventually you will walk out of there smelling like a cig. i usually just go to casinos to put my money down, make a profit, and get out of there. i couldnt spend all day at a casino. but if you have a friend whos willing to go, take them.

blackjack, slots (of course), pai gow, craps* (believe they use cards since state law doesnt allow the gambler to roll the die directly), bingo, roulette, poker

*checked out pechanga's website, seems they dont have craps there. didnt think i saw roulette either...but too lazy to click the link again. i know pala has roulette and craps for sure.
