I have heard of worse, conservative punks..wtf haha, there are some confused people in the world.

...What?

We were pointing out the irony of a outspoken capitalist authoritarian type having a song like that on his phone. Irony, you know? Guess not.

Oh well, some conservatives like johnny cash without really grasping the message. So it goes..

I'm not authoritarian (or religious), and I respect artists as long as they are good, regardless of their message. If I limited myself to conservative music, I'd be listening to Christian rock and Country all day (I'd kill myself before that happened).

Besides, coming from bthorny (a guy I've never heard of), I didn't expect him to know my political leaning...

Believe me, I understand the song...

Man if you don't post here everyday nobody knows who you are I guess...
If you understand it then why would you play it on your phone? It stands against that which you are for....it is an anthem against you.....what every tilts your whirl I suppose though...

I swear, Steeplerot, you are the stupidest person who posts here and that is saying a lot.

I could frankly care less if it's anti-capitalism and anti-religious, it sounds good.

Imagine by John Lennon is one of my favorite songs.
A Perfect Circle is obviously anti-war and they are one of my favorite bands.
RATM hate everything -- and yet I like them too...

I may not like liberals' ideas about governing, but they definitely have some musical talents 🙂

Thanks, it is always the ones who say this are the ones least able to grasp what I say.

Welcome to my "just don't get it" list.

I have no trouble understanding what you're posting, it's you who have no idea what you're posting.

Welcome to my "head stuck up his ass" list.

This says a lot about the stuff you swallow and preach.

Just another sellout, but we knew this.

I'm a sellout because I like Pearl Jam, uh huh. This is a first, being called a sellout for liking the most popular band of the 1990's. Vic is absolutely right.

BTW, what exactly am I selling out? My ideals? I'm still here posting them, aren't I? Am I not allowed to watch movies now, because all the actors are liberal? Should I stay away from organizations that give more money to Democrats than Republicans? You sound like an anti-capitalist, anti-everything imbecile.

Hey, you're the one who takes yourself so seriously that you even managed to convince yourself that the ability to buy and sell freely is "authoritarian." Funny sh!t. To you, freedom is government control and authoritarianism is freedom. 😛

BTW, conservative punks were the first punks. Back in England in the early 70s. They wore Doc Martens because they were factory workers and shaved their heads into mohawks to be anti-hippie.

Give me a break, who? lol

Punk was not around till mid 70s, or at least named such.

Once again you have no clue what you are talking about.

Moron says what?

You probably think punk began with the Sex Pistols

No, earliest punk was iggy pop's original band the stooges, the clash, the damned (who are credited with having the first punk album released before any of the others did), siouxsie and the banshees -then the sex pistols (at least the incarnation most known that includes sid).

From the electronic side it would be throbbing gristle.

Here we go with the old ramones were first punks myth told by american media over and over lol

The ramones were not punk nor was joey conservative in the 70s.

Punk started as a english thing, not american.

Ramones jumped onto the media bandwagon for fame (along with the new york dolls -see malcom mcclaren later in this post), like most american sellout music.

There lyrics were pop, that said nothing except catchy radio pop phrases with a few "shock your parents" lines their look was nothing like punk which was against the long hair hippie type.
(which everyone had at the time)

The sex pistols were sellout latecomers, a scheme put together by malcom mcclaren to make some quick cash off "stupid kids"

Granted, john lydon (johnny rotten) went on to have a brilliant career for many many years after with Public image limited, unlike the has beens the ramones became.

When it comes to music, I am no moron, you are the idiot who would assume I don't know the roots of the music I have been part of for over a decade.

Your confused, but we knew this, hows that?

Just explain how I'm a sellout for liking Pearl Jam please.

Already been explained quite well in this thread.

regardless the whole thing makes me ill as I dont like any of the genx nirvana pearl jam stuff myself.

The 80s anti-reagan punk thing was more my era, the 90's corporate alterno rock sounds like rehashed guns and roses metal to me to be honest.

Explained in a why that doesn't make sense. Does watching movies with liberal actors make me a sellout? Does it make me a sellout for potentially hiring a plumber who is liberal? Should I stay away from companies that have Union workers working for them? I don't think so. Your logic is, well, illogical.

Music is something special to me, as it is art is is very easy for it to be watered down, nothing like hiring a plumber to fix a pipe.

Good explanation...I'm going to bed, I'm not gonna get anything out of you, you'll never admit you're wrong.

I did not disagree with you, actually if you feel that way then DONT hire those types, I dont buy from wal marts, mc donalds, or even own a tv and buy groceries locally and vegatables from farmers markets and do my best not to work for greedy multinationals or corporations either.

I do not see why it is illogical, actually it works out great.

Meh I like a lot of Mel Gibson movies like Braveheart, but I think he a retard.

I think ntdz is saying not everyone molds every part of their life with their political ideals.

I never thought this would happen, but ntdz you made me smile and laugh TWICE in this thread so far.... AND you've got fairly good taste in music, though I prefer Tool for Maynard's bands over A Perfect Circle.

I prefer Tool as well, I just think that APC has a more liberal message. Aenima -- I actually LOVE the message of that song.

Why are you so obsessed with generalizing and categorizing everything and everyone? All I need to do is find one exception to your rule to prove you wrong. I?ve played drums in punk band?.doesn?t mean I?m punk. I?m in a reggae band now?.doesn?t mean I?m Rasta. I?m an American Indian Jew?. What category are you going to assign me to now? Grow the fvck up man.
