I remember that day well.

I was seven and had never heard of the Japanese OR Pearl Harbor but how quickly we learned.

If they had the modern American press, they would have declared the war lost after Pearl Harbor or Kasserine.

naw, it would have been more like "WTF, the Japanese attacked us? That's it, we're going to KILL THE EVIL NIGERIANS!!"

ROTFLMAO!!!

Monday morning quarterbacking is always easy. Try putting yourself in their shoes at the time.

Many history revisionists would have you believe we should have seen it coming, but they all fail to put their "clues" into context.

If you went back in time to a month or a week before 12/7/1941 and told those in power what was about to happen, they would have thought you were absurd.

I'm no fan of FDR by a long shot, but to blame him or anyone else for not seeing this coming would be silly.

Makes about as much sense as blaming Bush for 9/11... unfortunately, the absurdity doesn't seem to be stopping many people.

My grandfather served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II.

It's all Bush's fault.

😀

Funny, though. Bush's father was a fighter pilot and was shot down in the battle of Midway, then rescued by a sub.

P&N!

Just kidding of course.

I completely forgot until my history teacher was like December 7th and then I realized it. Then she said it and I felt smart.

Whoah, whoah there buddy. Who said I was "blaming anyone"? Did I even mention FDR??

All I'm saying is that there were a lot of "little" things happening and decisions that were made prior to Dec 7, 1941 by US military officials and personnel which made the attack THAT much more sucessful (even if they didn't know what was to come).

Yeah, it's easy to Monday morning quarterback, but when you sit back and take a look at the way things transpired and how many lives were lost as a result of it, I can't just sit back and say "Sh!t happens"

No, you can't. Which explains the drastic change in our foreign policy following WWII. No longer could we remain isolated and ignore the rest of the world.
