I'm starting a business and still have the cheapass "I can do everything myself" mentality.

Staples has Sage Software's Peachtree Complete Accounting for $79 after rebate ($279 OTD - $200 rebate).

I had to hound the store manager for a bit, as the rebate only applies to product SKU 607888, different from what they had instore. They were able to order it for me--a few days wait is worth $200. The rebate expires Apr 15, 2005.

Staples also has Peachtree Accounting (the standard version) for $165, with a $165 rebate, so it's free AR. The rebate expires soon, Jan 15, 2005. The SKU is 607887.

Best Buy has it (complete version) for 199.99 so you can get it FAR (or make money if you use coupons or if your rewards account is eligible for the 20% bonus). It took the cashier about 20 minutes to call Best Buy to confirm the price, but other people on FW reported the printout showing the product was in stock was good enough.

A previous rebate for PeachTree @ Staples required the app to be installed and registered before the rebate was paid.

Thanks to everybody for this wonderful deal!

My wife drove right over to Staples, and did the price matching thing. We are getting paid $0.02 to take the software home (plus tax on $200).

Once again, THANKS!

That's the regular version. You don't have to install it but need the registration. However, the rebate for the "complete" version only requires the serial number (so you don't have to register it if you want to flip it on ebay).

harrkev, it looks like they only gave you 100% instead of 110%. I was walking out of the store when I noticed that and went back to get that fixed. Unfortunately I paid using 9 dealpass $25 cards, which all needed to be re-swiped for the extra ~$8. Not sure driving back is worth the time and gas but if you need to go there again you might want to bring your receipt with you.

Why is there no rebate info online when I search for SKU 607888?
There was for the non complete version, however.

Just go to RebatesHQ.com and type 05-40818 for the offer code. You can pre-submit your rebate there. Don't forget to include the serial number on the form or else they'll reject your rebate.
Edit: Also posted in FW is the $40 upgrade rebate

Yes, the rebate does not show up on Staples.com (for whatever reason). The in-store display listed the rebate however, and my store's manager was able to look up the form/etc for me. Information about the rebate is also available on other websites (see other thread posts).

Try Visual Bookkeeper at http://www.a-systems.net/index.htm for $79.95 complete. If you do payroll, Peachtree requires one to subscribe to their payroll tax service in order to update payroll tax tables on a yearly basis unless you know the funky little work around that's not widely published to get around that pain in the yearly neck fee to update tables. And forget dealing with Sage for problems. Sage telephone support is a joke and local support, though available, will be quite expensive.

I was in Staples today and I saw the Free standard version Peachtree Accounting ($165, with a $165 rebate, no Oregon sales tax) so I picked up the last one. Got home and read the above. Anyone know if I can get a BestBuy price match after the fact? Will changing my reciept screw up the rebate or can I send off the rebate then go in to Staples for a $15 price adjustment?
