This wasn't a protest for his approval, this was a protest against the United States government telling the world to feck off because it wants some damn oil.

Ladies and gentlemen you now know exactly why most of these so called "war protests" have absolutely no credibility at all.

People protest against the war for many different reasons. The only reason they have no credibility with you is because you want the war.

I challenge you to find anywhere on this board where I have said that I "want" a war. I'll save you the trouble. I haven't, so shut up. The reason that the "protesters" don't have any credibility is because there are way too many "Bush is warmonger", "No blood for oil", and "No racist war" signs at many of these protests. None of those have any credibility with anyone with any upper brain function.
You have a point Dave. Of course the same can be said for those like Grasshopper and the other simple minded reactionaries who label those who don't agree with him as being un-American.

For the record, I'm for forcibly disarming Hussien but I also think we should give the inspectors a few more months. Not because I think Iraq will capitulate, but because when he fails to do so we then have a United Front to help us Prosecute this Military Action and more importantly, help offset the enormous financial burden that will accrue to make sure than Iraq doesn't turn into an Oasis of Anarchy and Islamic Radical Fundamentalism.

hmmm, I think Bush's daughters are about the right age to serve their country........ surely since our president feels so strongly about the necessity of a war, he wouldn't mind if THEY were in the thick of it

I don't have problems with people protesting war against Iraq, after all, we are in USA and we have a freedom to voice our opinion without worrying about retribution, same can't be said about Iraq.
However, like Dave said, some of the protesters are just anti-Bush, anti-government, and anti-establishment and are using this situation to push their agenda.

Actually I think that the Anti War Movement in Europe has a more profound effect than the Anti War Movement here at home, mainly for the resons that you and Dave pointed out. It'sd hard to take them seriously when they insist that we are going to war for Oil just as much as it's hard to swallow when the Pro War advocates say we are going to War to help the Iraqi People. We are going to war for to disarm Hussien because an Armed Hussien is a threat to the stability of the World. Stability in that region is of the upmost importance not only to our national Interests but to the interest of our Economic Partners throughout the world. If it brings a better life for those in Iraq then fine but that would just be a positive by product of any actions we take (if indeed it does make the Iraqi Peoples life better)

Millions of people demonstrated across the globe on Saturday. Almost 1 in 10 Spaniards (sp?) protested.
I think the pro-war side is the one with the credibility issue. When the US has to blatantly bribe our "allies", use tapes from bin Laden to stengthen the fictitious Iraq-al Queda link, and plagarize old graduate student reports (well that was Britian), any credibility is quickly vanishing.

and what exactly is Chirac doing if not blackmailing eastern european countries??

again, this "War" initiative isn't an INITIATIVE, Hussein has not complied w/ the terms set after the UN forcibly removed them from Kuwait. The BURDEN of PROOF is on Hussein.

Grasshopper, if Peace Movements cause wars then why aren't you in support of them? Obviously you would be extremely dissapointed if there is no war with Iraq.

BTW, did you get your Chopper Training in the Service? Are you in the Reserves? I'd think that someone who is as anxious for war as you seem to be would want to be were the action is instead of sitting back and letting the others do the fighting for you. I'd bet that the Marines or Army would like to have a trained Chopper Pilot such as yourself supporting those infantry men that will be in harms way.

well said, red dawn

Ditto.....

Grow up.

I guess you missed Saddam this weekend congratulating the anti-war movement. The movement and the UN are nothing but Saddams Tools.

Who cares? This wasn't a protest for his approval, this was a protest against the United States government telling the world to feck off because it wants some damn oil. Whether Saddam likes it or not had nothing to do with what the protests were about.

You sir, are an idiot. Its about france, germany, and russian wanting oil and money.

If you think that is true then you have to believe that the US is in it for the oil.
