PDAs

I'm sorry about the double post but in peripherals forum, this thread is getting no action whatsoever.

Hello, I need to get organized in a big way. This is my life right now:

1. Second child born this past week

2. Full time business owner

3. Taking 18 credit hours at college

I cannot afford to let anything slip by the cracks as you can clearly see. So please help me find a PDA that doesnt suck and suits my needs. If anyone has a link to a webpage that reviews PDAs that would rock (I haven't googled that yet, so anything is helpful).

I need something that is easy to use, doesnt require hours and hours of "playtime" before I can get comfortable with all functions, has a good software package, and has some long term staying power (not obsolete in 6 months). I would like it to be less than $300 but would consider something $400 if it is heads and shoulders above something everything else.

Thanks in advance for the help

The Dell x50v seems to win a lot of awards. You should be able to pick one up in the Hot Deal Forum for $325 give or take, depending on coupons. I have one and love it.

It will take a bit of fiddling around, IMHO. This was my first PPc version and I've been messing around with it for a while and stil have a lot to learn. Always downloading and installing software to try.

FWIW, there is a x51v announced, although I don't think it's a HUGE upgrade. Also, if you order now, Dell is throwing in an upgrade to Windows Mobile 5 when out (in Oct. ?)

check out www.aximsite.com for more info on the Dells.

Frankly a little spiral notebook or a simple day planner / pocket calendar will probably work better for keeping your schedule under control.

Pros:
* dirt cheap
* no battery problems
* perfect handwriting recognition
* very difficult to break

And Cartman's Trapper Keeper can devour it and inherit its powers.

Yes, a PDA can surf, play games, play MP3s, store lo-res pr0n and other neat things. But those are PDA-as-toy not PDA-as-scheduler. And if you turn on the wifi to surf and game, the batteries will probably be dead when you want to look up where you're supposed to be at 4:30.

I have an Axim X3i and it's nice, I was just pointing out that "paper 1.0" has many useful qualities that it and every other PDA lacks.

my vote for the paper office with DaveSimmons. with my franklin planner I'll win hands down with any PDA race to find addy, to do, due, b-days, etc etc. when i need diversion, it's great for doodleing, hangman and downloading my thoughts with a pen. Congratulations on the new baby, I doubt your going to have time to learn a new technology as a PDA.

Thanks. I'll start a new thread for you guys entitled "PDAs vs. Paper: Your Thoughts?"

If anyone else could give some input on my original question I'd appreciate it 🙂
