I'm looking for a pda, and figured maybe i should just get a pda phone. I need a new phone regardless because the one i have now is broken. So instead of putting a hundred bucks towards a phone, putting it into a pda as well would be better.

Anyone have one or can recommend the better phone PDA's?

i thought verizon only had the one, the samsung pda. it's pretty cool, a client of mine has one and he had me set it up for him.

Check out the Treo 600 most phone carriers have it and it's the best pda/phone hybrid out there.

Treo is crap. Blackberry is where it's at if you're serious about functionality. There's a reason that you see corporations roll out enterprise Blackberry setups and not enterprise Treo setups...it does what it does well. If you're looking for a toy that can do a little bit of everything OK (but not perfectly), the samsung PocketPC isn't bad.

Nevermind, Verizon still doesn't have the 6230 or 6320. Their Blackberry support sucks ass. Personally, I'd ditch them for a provider that actually has the newer Blackberries.

HP is supposed to be out with the Ipaq 6000 series PDAPhone sometime during the first of the year (March time frame). It's supposed to have integrated wireless, integrated Bluetooth, integrated GPS, and PocketPC 2003 - all in the frame of an Ipaq. That's the one I'm waiting for though it'll probably cost an arm and a leg. Good thing I picked up a couple of spare limbs at the flea market...

Verizon doesn't carry the Treo 600, unfortunately. I'm waiting. I had the Treo with Sprint and can't wait to get it again with VZW now (if ever).

And Blackberrys were designed with businesses in mind. Their wireless offering makes that quite obvious. As a common consumer looking for PDA goodies, the Blackberry is dull as hell. I don't know how anyone can justify calling the Treo 600 "crap".

The Kyocera 7135 is another smartphone VZW carries. Coming from a Treo 600, I'm holding off.. nothing compares to it.

I don't think it should be too long before the Treo 600 comes to verizon. I think verizon uses CDMA like sprint, correct me if I'm wrong ;)

I call them crap because they constantly choke on large contact databases from outlook, have crappy mail forwarding software (which just recently changed hands causing users to have to uninstall TreoMail and install Visto, which doesn't have any improvements, just a different name), crash regulary requiring a hard reset, and are slooooooow to sync. I still have 3 clients who still cling to these POSs (2 270's and a 600) while their colleagues have moved on to Blackberries. That's ok, I get to bill 3 or 4 hours watching the HotSync wheel spin while the databases are rebuilt after a crash/hard reset.

And I said, if you're looking for functionality, Blackberry is where it's at. The OP didn't specify his environment.

What PDA "goodies" do you get with a Treo? Games? A crappy camera?

I'm waiting to see how well these work. Does anyone have plans to release one with a qwerty keyboard though?
