How does wireless modem work?

For example, in PocketPc, do you just plug in a modem card and work like a regular modem? Or your ISP need infrastructure to support it?

You have to pay for service ( at least my friend and his wireless visorcolor do)

yeah an ISP is the only way to get wireless access, i think it costs something like $40 a month. Plus you have to buy a wireless modem.

u can pay a special ISP that will provide the modem, or use it will your cell phone, I think that would require dialing up into a real ISP but not sure. check out www.brighthand.com forums
