PDA Advice Needed

Hi,

I'm looking to pick up a PDA for a first time PDA user. I'm looking to spend between $100 and $200. Because it is for a new user, I'm thinking about something somewhat easy to use. I've been looking at either the Palm M105 (more RAM than the M100) or the Handspring Visor (whatever model is in the price range).

Can someone give me some advice on what to buy?

TIA,

Sal

I did quite a bit of research for PDA's in that price range a few months back, and hands down, the winner for me was the Sonly CLIE PEG-S320.

8MB Memory
Dragonball 33MHz CPU
Palm OS 4.0
Sharp screen with a really nice backlight (glows like an Indiglo watch)
Pretty good size and weight for the price

I checked out a lot of models in person, and I liked the Sony the best. I also loved the Jog Dial, it makes scrolling through e-mails and lists so much easier.

I bought mine when they were $200, but if you check out Hot Deals, they're going for $130-ish at Dell.com, shipped.

Thanks! Looked really good to me that I went ahead and placed my order at Dell. It shows out of stock, but you can never trust Dell's site for stock. $124 shipped is a hell of a deal. 🙂

Thanks again!

As a first time user, I'd recommend finding a used, inexpesive one as a test drive model to evaluate what functions you really use the most, what you don't use that you thought you'd use, and what's on your "I wish I had..." list. Of the friends who have PDAs, most tof them were measureably happier with their second and third PDAs after figuring out what they wanted but were unhappy with the fact that their first PDA had too many bells and whistles and a pretty hefty price tag.

Personally, I'd recommend against the Sony simply for high price/features ratio.
