Ok, i'm having this problem since i got the card. As soon as i exit the pctv vision software the audio goes from nicam stereo to mono and i cannot capture in stereo (f.e. virtualdub and not even with the pinnacle software!). There are a lot of ppl having this problem (also check the pinnacle board), i wonder if any of you ppl here have got a solution? I don't think it has anything to do with my pc, i think it's a card or driver problem. I'm having this problem in both win98se and winxp. I wish i bought a Hauppauge instead. :/

anyone? thx in advance

As Echelon probably knows, the PCTV is mono and the PCTV Pro is stereo, but the stereo has lots of problems on the PCTV Pro. I only have the PCTV version, so I don't know the solution for sure and have no way to test it, but some options you could try include:

1. Try some tweaked drivers such as those available here or here
2. Try some other capture programs, capturing stereo through your sound card
3. Try the Brooktree 848 reference drivers
4. Try drivers from the manufacturer of another capture card that uses the same chipset (this may work for video but may hose the audio altogether -- if it does you should be able to uninstall the drivers without doing any permanent damage, but there can be no guarantee)

@DIRTsquirt: it ís a stereo card, pctv is mono, pctv pro is stereo, like FPSguy says ;)

@FPSguy:
1. i've just tried the first link but i have no success in installing the driver in winxp or win98se :( and i think i've already tried the second driver some time ago, but i will try it again
2. so far i haven't found any capturing program that is able to capture in stereo with my pctv pro
3. i would but i've got a BTB787 chip
4. i don't think that will work though :/

keep those suggestions coming
