PCP&C Silencer 610 for $130?

Directron, SVC, and xPCGear all have it for less (granted, they may also charge shipping). Maybe clearing out the stock to make room for the Silencer 750? I believe the Silencer 750 retails for less than the "regular" price of the Silencer 610, so it'd be a little unseemly to sell the Silencer 610 at full MSRP.
 
So do you think that the stock of these 610's will be completely gone at some point in the near future, or can I expect that I can still pick up this PSU for about the same price in a month or two?

OCZ essentially came in and directed PCP&C to lower all of their pricing to help motivate volume. That and the new EU channels having OCZ as your parent company helps you buy at greater numbers and therefore get better pricing from the OEM.

As for Newegg having it for more than Directron, SVC, xPCgear, etc.... let's just say that Newegg uses PSU's to make up for loss leaders. ALWAYS shop around before buying a PSU from Newegg.

I've found NewEgg to be pretty good as far as memory selection and pricing. As you hinted at though -- not one of my favorite places to look for PSUs.

I'm a bit partial to Buy.com myself. Not the most comprehensive selection, but they have pretty nice deals from time to time, and a decent chance of getting free shipping.

Can you verify if this is the same as the PCP&C version?
 
Yeah, that's the same thing. New retailers are marketing the PCP&C product as OCZ because they're buying it through their existing OCZ channels using OCZ part numbers.

Too bad you won't get all the trim with an OCZ PSU that you would get sporting the "PCP&C" logo...

Heh Mucker beat me to it, the etasis 750w comes for 100$ AR btw. Only complaint I heard about etasis is not having any 6+2 PCI-e connectors.

I was going to PM you: need a new PSU, EPS, and I was looking at:

Corsair versus a PC P & C Silencer 610

when I saw the Estasis for $110 A/R: looks great on paper; however, no Newegg user reviews, which can be helpful in figuring out noise level, overall quality trends, etc.

Any idea of the noise level from this PSU versus the Corsair models and the PC PC "Silencer" 610? It will run in a cool environment, and with 750W on tap, it won't be stressed....

This is what jonny has to say about the etasis PSU's:

Etasis Gaming Power product line

* Server grade
* Fairly quiet for PSU's with 80MM fans
* ET-750 and ET-850 are both 8800GTX SLI certified
* 3 year warranty

Since it's going to run in a cool environment and won't be stressed much, it should run fairly quiet as well. If you are really concerned about quietness, then you should be looking at other PSU's then the corsair and the pc silencer anyways, so I'm pretty sure you will be happy with the etasis unit. In a 'amateur' review the writer sais: "When idle, the fan is dead silent, but admittedly, it is not moving much air either. At load, the fan speed picks up, but noise levels remain undetectable. Overall, it is safe to say that this PSU is dead silent and the automatic fan control is a definite plus!"
 
Heck, even the Tier 4 has some great psu's.

I am a totally happy Tier 3 and Tier 4 owner. (Antec TPQ-850, Corsair HX620, Antec Trio 650, Enhance 500)

BUT, nothing like having an excellent server grade, Tier 1 psu, at a kick butt price....

I think the Corsairs are more quiet than the PCP&C as well as the Etasis. IIRC most/all of the "server based" huge units cooled by one 80mm fan are a step up in noise level from the quiet 120mm fan units. The Corsairs also happen to be really quiet Seasonic built units.

Note that these "tiers" are basically "the ranking among the best." A "Jonnyguru tier 4" is a lot better than all the other junk out there. It's like saying "this is the most crappily put together Lexus." You know it's still better than a Ford. 😱 (J/K)

all good points!!

Basically they all are well built PSU`s. Also mind you I believe Jonny also docked for length of warranty.
That has been fixed...the warranty is now 5 years instead of 3yrs!!
