I'd like some good suggestions on a new net card for my laptop.

I currently have a Netgear FA410, which I hate. Or rather, I hate the cable coupler that plugs into the card.

Are there other methods of connecting the cable besides that push-in connector that doesn't stay firmly connected??

Thanks as always :)

You might want to checkout Xircom's selection. As I recall, they have several dongle-less cards.

i also suggest a card from xircom. i've tried one of their dongle-less cards and it is fantastic. it had 3 ports: 1 rj45 (10/100mb), 1 phone (56k modem) and 1 other jack that looked like a phone jack.

although the card took up 2 slots, it is still well worth it.

Intel has some "RealPort" cards too.

How about wireless? (If you want to spend the money.) SMC has been good for me.

He's looking to replace an existing card, not his entire network.

Actually, I have been giving some thought to adding a wireless ap to my network.

I had looked a few months ago, but the price seemed a little too much, but it seems the prices are starting to become more reasonable. I may just struggle with this card for a little while longer then take the jump into wireless.
