It matches the charts at GameGPU.ru quite well.

The R290X (~390) is trading blows with the 980 in many recent titles. Well above Kepler.

Did you even look at the thing you just posted? It shows 290X ahead of 780ti at 1440p, like Silverforce was saying. 780ti only pulls ahead at 1080p and 900p, at which point either GPU is overkill.

Anyway, they're both still good GPUs. All this bitching and moaning about Kepler being abandoned is just silly.

Totally wrong. GTX 780 Ti is not overkill at 1080p infact GTX 980 Ti is not even a overkill at 1080p.

There are many games which need more then GTX 980 Ti or Fury X power to maintain 60fps at 1080p on max out. For example GTA V, Rise of the Tomb Raider, Crysis 3, Assassins Creed 2015, etc.

Yes i have seen and it is beating R9 290X at 1080p which some poster claims it is even losing on 1080p.

I don't really even see the big deal. These numbers are essentially the same as the TPU numbers.
TPU from the new Matrix review @1440p- 980 66%, 390X 64%, 290X 60%, 780Ti 59%

That being said, the 290X gains by far the most if you purchase an aftermarket model instead of a reference one, but the PcLab numbers don't seem out of line at all.

GTA V, Rise of the Tomb Raider and Assassin's Creed are all console third-person shooters, built to be played with controllers at 30fps in front of a TV. Yes you mean compromise settings. It is not overkill if you have lower the settings. Overkill means maxing out gaming with above 60fps.

AMD needs a true game changer with polaris because they have only delivered on the performance and long term support end. Nvidia on the other has delivered everything plus more, except the lack of more robust support for kelper cards.

You can bring down every card in existence with Half Life 2 if you just inject a high enough SSAA level. Overkill goes both ways. Also, 144 Hz would want a talk with your definition.

Nvidia cards are all round a better package imo and I hope polaris can encompass simlar changes to make it a more appealing product.

I'm well aware that AMD claimed Fury X would be the fastest single GPU card, while when it launched it was a couple percent slower than a 980Ti (or Titan X). Saying that Fury X ended up being the total opposite of the fastest card is hyperbole of the highest order though, which is ironic (and hypocritical) considering a couple hours ago you were complaining about people positively hyping Fury.

Fair points but again nvidia cards do overclock better than their amd counterparts and alot of the custom cards can keep said overclock 24/7. Game ready drivers as I said might not do much for the card in terms of performance but where a consumer is involved constantly releasing new drivers for upcoming games is huge plus for them. Longevity might not be nvidia cards strong suit but in their intended release time or before their planned obsolescence they perform well for the current crop of games dx12 or not which I personally think is a much better move than to release an optimized driver for a game that is 6 month plus old.

it wasn't even sandy bridge that the rumor was about. it was the older i7 processors. A lot of people think it was sandybridge. That post is actually pretty important in the discussions about AMD and their processors. eg.

Actually every core has its own dedicated FMAC for floating point. If you want to do 256-bit floating point with AVX you can merge the 2 FMACs. Intel handles 256-bit AVX by merging their 128-bit FPU with the SSE functions (and you have to recompile all of your code to make SSE into AVX-128.

claiming they aren't cores like has been done recently even though intel was similar.

fury x is on paper the fastest card. Might be the fastest in practice in 2016.

Overclockers dream as I have said before depends. Overclockers like exotic cooling and high power tolerance. A regular user likes clicking a couple buttons and getting 5 terabartholomewshz of gigapower.
