PCIe x16 slot question on a new Gigabyte mobo

I know my Gigabyte 890FXA-UD5 (AMD mobo admittedly) states in the manual that for running a single video card you 'should' place the card in the PCIE_16_1 (whatever it's technically named) but I can't imagine it actually makes a real world difference. I'd check the manual to be certain.

Yes, use the one nearest to the cpu. The other pci-e x16 slot is wired for x4 to the southbridge (with an 890FX chipset it doesn't matter that much, since probably every slot is at least x8).
