PCIE 2.0 X16 into PCI Express X16 ???

I have an older HP computer with an X300SE video card that has died. It is in a PCI Express X16 slot.

I have a HD4350 PCI Express 2.0 X16 card available.

Will this card work in the older PCI Express X16 slot?? (Assuming the power supply can handle it)

I don't really understand the issues of of putting a 2.0 card in the older (1.0???) slot.
