PCI video conflicts with motherboard

no, I've got no access to an 8M meg card. THe onboard AGP is already 8M, although its stolen from the installed memory. I have have an older 16 meg chip installed at one point, so I know it can be done...

So, (just so I understand correctly), you had a 16 MB PCI video card installed once and it worked. Assuming this is what you meant, I think that pretty well answers the question. It would seem that the motherboard just can't handle newer, more powerful video cards.
I'm not sure if changing to the FX card will make any difference. Make sure you whomever you buy from has a good return policy.

Thanks everyone for your advice and assistance. I'm returning the ATI based card and will try out a fx based on the recommendation here. atlr, could you recommend your manufacturer?
