On a laptop with windows home edition, I boot and get the error that pci.sys is missing or corrupt.
The only xp disc that I have is a xp - media center, so I cant do a full reinstall because I doubt that the keys will match up. So I put in the xp disc to enter the repair console and typed in...
Expand D:\i386\pci.sy_ c:\Winnt\System32\drivers /y
And got acces denied. Did some research and entered the command...
set AllowAllPaths = true
However, some sort of access was denied because of mmc which you can only access through xp.
Now I'm not sure if I can burn a cd anytime soon, but is there anything else I can do just off of the other xp cd?
