PCI slots and Onboard LAN stopped working?

I had a biostar m7vkq board that was going along just fine. Then all of a sudden windows would boot but nothing worked (internet, etc). It seems that none of the pci cards are detected anymore! I took out all the cards and booted, then turned it off again and put a different random network card in and it didn't find it at all. Also, the onboard lan doesn't even show a connection light when the cable is known good (i plug a laptop in and the internet works).

Is there any reason all this stuff would break? Is there any way to detect the cards BEFORE booting to windows (just to confirm the hardware is actually bad and its not just a windows thing)?

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Dave

Could try a BIOS reset with the power disconnected.
Never know - it might work.

Did you do anything to it before it stopped working?
Could try booting with a live cd of KNOPPIX. You might even get to like it. I fell in luurve with it but just bring it out when I need someone to talk to!

I flashed the bios and that didn't help - good enough to cover your bios reset idea?

Yea good call booting to linux. I'm a Fedora guy so I'll try Fedora live. If it doesn't work, just toss the board?
