PCI slots and irq's?

I know some pci slots share an irq, (eg agp slot and 1st pci slot).
But does changing the position of a pci card from one slot to a different slot change the irq assigned to it by the motherboard bios?
Specifically the MSI K7T Pro 2A?

Yes it does.
You might want to take a look in your motherboard manual to see which expansion slot shares which IRQs to see what's the best for your particular needs.

That is a BIOS function, and all PCI slots are generally controlled. There is a chart in the mobo manual that shows which slots are shared with which slots.

In mine, for example (AMI) the AGP slot is shared with PCI 1. That means I can't use PCI one since my video card does not share. Slot 2 is the only indenpendent one . . . and that is another non-sharable (SCSI Bus Mastering Adapter). My LAN card shares with USB, and the Sound card shares with something else . . . but you need to study your chart and decide what goes where.

Man! Do I miss old MR BIOS where I could assign the IRQ I wanted to any given PCI slot! AMI doesn't allow that.
