I wanted to build a new system with the new PCI express standard. I find it funny that there are only a couple motherboards out there that support PCI express and the serious lack of Video cards that support PCI express. I read an article that PCI Express is going to have 30% of the market share within the next year. Well if that is true, WHERE THE HECK ARE THEY?! and then NVIDIA wants to have dual x16 video cards... Great, so now we have to wait for the dual x16 motherboards to come out - crazy!

Not only that, it's not really gonna be any faster than 4XAGP unless they release faster cards or you wait for SLI to come around.
I don't really think it's all that bad. Eventually it will be the thing to have.
Until PCI-E2 (or whatever) comes out a bit later to make PCI-E obsolete.

:beer:oh ow gutshot, accept there are new 6800's specially designed to support mac's and the new cine displays.
And technically on the Nforce4 it will be one PCIe x16 and one PCIe x8, though there will be virtually no perfromance loss.
Just get an AGP card, current PCI express cards won't be any faster than their AGP cousins.
Also, Nvidia's SLI will utilize 1 16x port and 1 8x port. They will physically be the same size, but one will have a bus with less bandwidth.
If you want to have cutting edge, parts are going to be difficult to come by and expensive.... the price of being in the game. I think PCI Express needs to become more widespread before I even think about upgrading.

PCI-E is a very good thing for all computer users; I'm surprised you don't see it that way. PCI has a very long list of limitations which have been overcome with this new technology. You should be happy about it. For the same price, you can get a motherboard that is technically superior to what you could buy a month ago.
You're complaining about a lack of product availability when the boards were released, what, two weeks ago? AFAIK ATi and nVidia will have a full line of PCI-E products within the next few months. Why should they rush? AMD doesn't even have a PCI-E platform yet!
Remember, there was a recall on the intel chipset that supports PCI-E; that's probably the reason behind some of the delays.

They really shouldnt hype new technology if they cant provide it. I guess we should be used to it... when has intel actually launched a product that was actually ready to be shipped. The same goes for these new Video cards - how many did Nvidia release for the 6800 launch, like 10?!

Dude you're blowing this WAY out of proportion. A week ago, I was seeing S775 boards all over the place in local stores here in Toronto. That was only a week after launch! They had tons! More motherboads than people were willing to buy!
The only reason you can't get one now is because of a RECALL on the chipsets.
As for the graphics cards, that's another story. You can't have an egg without having a chicken to lay that egg, if you catch my drift. They will be released soon enough. ATi and nVidia are planning to have almost their entire lineup offered in PCI-E shortly, so worry not.
