Man so everyone is frying AOpens. Everytime I check mwave.com site the price for AOpen is dropping and the return rate there is about 100% they say. I believe there is something wrong with them but I also think that not plugging in the PCI-E ATX power didn't help at all.

Rdavido, just make sure there isn't some connector required next to your PCI-E slot. Not all boards are the same but just read the manual carefully and look for anything suspicous on the board and any connectors that may have been left over.

Good luck!

I have your fix... just return that AOpen if you can or get your money back from AOpen tell them all their cards are frying and get an eVGA or Chaintech both I have heard good stories about. Also please note that there might be another connector needed as stated many times in this thread.

Good luck.

I don't recommend the eVGA 6600GT video card. In the past week I have managed to see 3 of them die a painful death. In 2D mode (running normal Windows XP SP2) the card performs fine, but the minute you start to get your game on, give the card about an hour and it dies. The one thing that I noticed when looking at the card is that it relies on the PCI Express bus to provide all of the power to it. There is no auxilliary connector on the eVGA card for any additional power. Is anyone having the same problem? Here is my rig:

Shuttle SB81P
eVGA 6600GT
P4 3.0 GHz
1GB Simpletech DDR RAM matched 512MB Modules
3 Samsung SATA Drives
1 Samsung DVD Dual Layer Writer

To the OP, Can you post links that work please? Or at least last for longer than five minutes?
