when are we gonna see peripherals such as sound blaster sound cards and HDTV tuners etc? Also when are we gonna see some decent SATA opticals and SATA 300.

why the big fuss? the current hardware can't even come close to utilizing pci express and sata optical drives... again why? no need, optical drives are about maxed out for speed.

HDTV cards could definitely use the bandwidth. A single 1080i broadcast is 19.1 megabits per second...

i have seen pci hdtv cards, plus a regular 32bit pci bus is 133MB/s. 19.1Mb/s is only 2.39MB/s. i know that a lot of things are on the pci bus, even with everything going you already still have headroom.

I have a PCI HDTV card. I can't remember the exact reason why, because I didn't really give a damn, but the HDTV guys over at AVS forum had a really good reason for needing more bandwidth for HDTV cards.

If you really want to expand your knowledge, find a simple way to make a Transport Stream (raw HD capture) into an mpeg. 1 hour of TS is 8GB.... and can be compressed down to 2GB or so with no quality loss... But there's no easy way to do it.

I remember seeing somewhere(no not on a forum) that the Audigy 3 will be on PCIe.
