PCI-Express and AMD

I am planning on upgrading to AMD-64 (Probably to the Socket 939s when they launch in limited quantities later this month) and I wanted to get a PCI-Express capable mobo for this too.

Will PCI-Express only be available for Intel chipsets initially or can I expect to see PCI-Express capable mobos for AMD-64 (Socket 939 more specifically) in June?

They will be out, but I'm not sure when. Most likely they'll be announced along with the Socket 939 boards next month.

It's worth noting that AMD doesn't make motherboards; it's up to chipset makers like VIA and NVIDIA (who make chipsets for AMD processors) and motherboard manufacturers (like ASUS, Shuttle, DFI, etc.) to make PCI-E boards for AMD processors. Intel makes its own motherboards and chipsets, and so can try to dictate things a bit more.

I'm upgrading to 939 too... Unfortunately, you'll have to wait at least a week longer (939 release was pushed from May 25 to June 1).

There will be at least one pci-e motherboard for AMD on June 1st! 🙂

Yep June 1st is the release date of 939 and there should be PCI-Express boards with them. w00t I have no other info than waht was already said 🙂
