PCI express 2 X16 card, is it usable in a PCI express 1 MOB

My previous video card stopped working and I am looking at replacement cards. The latest viedo cards are PCI express 2 X16 cards, and I am wondering if they are backward compatable with a PCI express x16 slot?

yes my board is version 1.1 and has no problems with my 3870x2

PCIe 2.0 cards are fully backwards compatible with PCIe 1.1 motherboards. Some of the earliest PCIe boards were 1.0 and there were some issues with those, IIRC, so you might just want to make sure which revision you've got.
