PCI express 16x, question

I need to buy a new video card for my system. The old one died. My motherboard says it has a PCI express 16x slot. Can I use a video card that is pci express 16x 2.0? Will I loose performance if I do? Thanks

It'll work, though you may suffer a performance hit from the reduced bandwidth (generally not noticeable except with high end/multi GPU cards).

Not likely. Only a potential issue with the X2 cards and with SLI / Xfire.
