PCI express 1.1 still enough bandwith ?

I wanna do atleast 1 more video card upgrade before I do a total system rebuild. Are any current cards being held back at all by PCI x 1.1 motherboards ? I currently have a 4850, might snag a 4890 or wait for the next ati/nvidia offerings.

a GTX280 is held back by PCIe 1.0 - but it is not usually a deal breaker

very likely a 4890 OC will also be constrained somewhat since it is just as fast

it may not be what you wanted to hear but it is accurate😛

No not really. You aren't missing much with pci-e 2.0

A frame here and there.

that is true; i mentioned i do not generally consider a PCIe 1.0 or 1.1 MB a deal breaker
--especially since you plan to keep your q6600 for another year or so

a video card will still make the biggest difference - the 4890; especially OCd, is probably 2x faster than your 4850 in some cases
- and perhaps you can OC your q6600 a bit more

can u show evidence of this? I've never seen such a review.

PCI-E has a ridiculous amount of bandwidth, usually these ports are 1-2 years ahead of what vid cards actually need in terms of bandwidth (eg AGP 8x t PCI-E).
