PCI-E x1?

i have two of these slots on my motherboard as well just sitting there when i already have a built-in ethernet port as well as a four port pci ethernet card....

but i was just wondering, how does pci x1 compare to regular pci? as in bandwidth, advantages/disavanatages?

i know that a PCI-E ethernet card on that bus will not be effected with a bottle neck and allows for more throughput....but as with most things...there probably isnt anything/any connection that can take advantage of it?? i was wondering the same thing...but its newer so it must be better right ?? lol 😛

32 bit PCI can't really handle Gigabit Ethernet. It has a burst rate of 1 Gbps.

AGP 8x is 16 Gbps. PCI Express x1 can do 2.5 Gbps (5 Gbps duplex).

I read that the standard for PCI Express goes up to x32.
