Inspired by my lightbulb moment in this thread:

I am looking for recommendations for a PCI-e Wireless NIC? It will be used on a desktop running Windows XP.

Thanks.

If you have a wired NIC (or if you can install one).

Get a Wireless Router that can be configured as a Wireless Bridge and connect it to the Wire port.

While being a little more expensive than a simple card, it actually provides the best Wireless Card possible,

Asus WL-520GU

Or, Linksys WRT54GL

What is DD-WRT?

How configure Wireless Bridge?

I guess this won't work with the Linksys WAP11 I already have?

I did not use WAP11 for years but AFAIR it has a client mode.

If it does you can use it as a 802.11b card.

Nothing like turning a need into a fun, geeky project!

Let's see if I can get it to work.
