PCI-E slot

Hey guys, i m trying to get an evga 780i for my future build and have some questions.

Let's say i m getting a 8800gt and i will be getting the x-fi SC (PCI-Ex1).

My question is, can i put the 8800gt on PCI-Ex16 slot 2, instead of slot 1? If u wonder why, it's about the video card, some video cards take up 1.5-2 slots, and the pci-ex1 on the evga is just under the pciex16 slot 1. And if i m getting another 8800gt for sli, can i put it in slot 3? or pci-ex16 2.0 only works on slot 1 and 2?

thanks guys.

Sometimes second slot is only activated when SLI is engaged or sometimes the second slot is only 8x. I Think yours will work fine in the second slot though.

You could even put your sound card in the second PCI-e 16x slot.

There is the answer!

Is that true?

Yeah, it should be. You can even do stuff like put a 8x card into a 1x slot...with an adapter or a little modding. It should just negotiate the speed.

I'm pretty sure thats the spec...whether all parts involved *actually* follow the spec however...
