PCI-E bandwidth

So I understand that intel chipsets prior Sandybridge only run at half speed for PCI-E. But does that half speed also apply to the PCI-E controller on the Lynnfield processors?

Pci-e are more crippled by latency and efficiency. that's theoretical bandwidth that will never be achieved coz 70 percent of the data arrives at the other end. The less quality motherboards with have a lower efficiency than the quality ones who got a efficiency of around 76 to 80 percent

I know you already found the answer, but just to make it clear to everyone else. The PCI-e controller on Lynnfield runs how its supposed to. Its just the chipset itself that doesn't.

That's new to me too. I thought that the amount of layers on the PCB was what determined efficiency.

impossible. Pci-e are network based. Data getting wrapped into a overhead. impossible to hit around 90 percent. if that was the truth also we wouldve seen a bigger difference between x4 and x16. If you don't want to believe me hop over to intels site or google this 321071_sec.pdf
