PCI-E 2.0

I am thinking of building a 8800GT sli system with a intel core.

Is 2.0 PCI-E standard now, cause I am looking at Mobos and they don't seem to mention it anywhere.

AFAIK no current video card uses all the bandwidth provided by PCIE 1.x.

Ok, can anyone recommend me a mobo for a 8800 gt sli system with that will run a quad Intel chip. I don't OC. I kind of wanted PCI-E 2.0 for the future proof aspect.

Well then you're looking at either the 780i or 790i. I suppose you could grab a 680i, 750, or some other chipset but without further information it's hard to know what kind of money you're looking at spending.

I think Asus has a respectable 750 motherboard but I haven't payed too much attention to it other than the fact people were screeching about problems with the board when it was 1st released.

780i or 790i would be your best bet.

If you are not going to overclock, you can pick any 7 series board according to your budget or needs. EVGA gets a head start due to their outstanding customer service.

EVGA is a great company, as for the ASUS 750I board I can tell you from the 3 systems I have built for friends, that for the price its a great board, just dont install the drivers from the disk, instead grab them online and you will be trouble free. However keep in mind the 750 board only comes with 4 sata ports. thats really the only drawback to the board.
