Anyway, I will carry out some benchmarking and compare it to appopin's results at
http://alienbabeltech.com/main/?p=2249&all=1 soon.
Here they are.
Very cool!
What do you conclude about PCIe 1.0 vs 2.0 in your PC?
- what would you recommend now for a MB and HD4870?
Well, my 3DMark Vantage benchmark was performed under the Performance preset and a resolution of 1360 x 768 pixels and my GPU score was 11,119. That's much more than a stock HD 4890 can achieve on a PCI-E 2.0 platform (if I'm to base myself on the reviews from around the web).
So, I guess I don't lose anything with my Sapphire HD 4870 1 GB Toxic Edition installed on a PCI-E 1.0 platform.
you can't do the stock test at the stock settings?
- Vantage is not important except for showing changes in the same system .. play games!
.. at any rate, i think my benches showed you lost nothing practical in frame rates with a 4870-1GB on a 1.0 PCIe MB compared to 2.0; GTX280 showed a little difference.
PCIe 3.0 is out and should be available in new MBs this Summer
I can't do the stock test at a stock run because the native resolution of my monitor is 1360 x 768 pixels. So, I can only do the GPU tests with any presets I want but only at 1360 x 768 pixels.
Anyway, I'm benchmarking some games these days and I'll post it on my website as soon as I finish. However, most of the games I play are racing ones and most of them retain a 60 FPS gameplay, which is not suitable for benchmarking. Race Driver: GRID seems okay but that's the only game I have which allows me to disable vertical sync.
Do you have any suggestion other than Crysis, Call of Duty, World in Conflict, Far Cry, etc?
