Howdy,

I've lost track of what is coming out when. I'm thinking about building another PC this year - I built a nice one last year but I could use a second PC and one that is a tad faster for video editing so I'm going quad since my apps handle multithreading quite nicely. Frankly I've lost track of when what technology is coming out.

Can you tell me when we can expect to see PCI express 2.0 slots? (may already be out for all I know). I don't necessarily need it but I'd prefer not to buy a motherboard next month only to find out that the slots on all the motherboards a month later will have newer technology standards. My current motherboard has the 975 chipset, I think I'll need the x38/bearlake chipset.

I don't know if I'll go ATI or nVidia - I typically go with most bang for the buck. When is the R600 coming out? I'm not saying either will offer more bang for the buck but I'll wait for more options before plunking down $400 plus for a good gaming video card. I thought it was going to be March but then I heard something about a delay but don't recall if they stated when it would be released.

I think I read a Quad Core 3GHz was coming out soon at a reasonable price but I could be mistaken. Does it use the same socket as the Core 2 Duo?

I also remember reading about Creative coming out with a new PCI E sound card but can't seem to find that data. I know they were talking about it at E3 like 2 years ago.

I realize these questions are all over the place but I figure the readers here pretty much keep up to speed on all of these things.

Thanks!
