Can I put a PCI graphic card in a motherboard that has an AGP slot?? or do I need to disable some feature in the BIOS or someting. I am upgrading my father's computer but I don't want to chage his old vid card (S3 savage4 Pro+, don't bash me, I had it for a REALLY good price). The new mobo will be a MSI K7T-T.

Some systems have an "Initialise Display first" option in the BIOS but as far as I am aware that is only useful for people using a PCI and an AGP together (for a dual monitor system).

But yes, run with the PCI graphics, it will be fine. Just because the AGP slot is there doesn't mean it has to be used...

It'll work perfectly fine.

"Initialise Display first" option in the BIOS only controls whether it tries to initialise display through the PCI/AGP first. If it doesnt find a display adapter in whatever it is set to it'll just go to the other one.
Setting it to the correct slot for your video adapter will speed up the POST very slightly, that's all.

I can say from personal experience that it works...I'm doing it right now (check out my system rig page if you want to). I haven't noticed any difference in boot time because of the AGP/PCI setting in the BIOS, but I didn't time it with a stopwatch, either :)
