I'm looking at a new motherboard that supports "PCI 2.2." I'm not sure if I understand that standard. What I think I know is
1) It's 66 MHz, 64 bit.
2) An older, slower or 32-bit PCI card will work in a PCI 2.2 slot
3) A PCI 2.2 card will work in an older, slower or 32-bit PCI slot (but more slowly)

Questions. First, are the above statements correct? Second, if I put a 33-MHhz / 32-bit PCI card in my PCI 2.2 bus will the PCI 2.2 cards on the bus run at 66 Mhz / 64 bit or does the whole bus slow down to the lowest common demoninator? The second question determines whether or not I have to buy all new cards.

Thanks in advance

The main PCI 2.2 spec is 32-bit, 33MHz. It does include the 64 bit slots, but it is generally taken to mean the standard slots that you see.

Don't worry about it. All of your cards are compatible and will operate at normal speed.

Boards with 64-bit slots are generally a lot more expensive and not really a consumer class board (with the exception of AMD 760-MPX boards).
