PC3200 RAM and 9800 Pro deals at Newegg!

Do any of you guys have this version of the card? I'm using a 9500 Pro and guess it's about time to upgrade. With all of the deals out there I can move from 512megs/9500 pro to 1.5gb and a 9800 pro for about $250 total. Hrmm... so tempting.

Don't go from a 9500pro to a 9800pro unless you can get a lot from selling your 9500pro.

It's not going to do much for you.

If you're going to spend $250, how about adding a single stick of 512 to bring you to 1 gig (I think the gain from 1 gig to 1.5 is minimal) and with the money saved get a 6600gt instead of a 9800pro.

I went from a 9500pro to a 9800pro because my gf needed a new vid card so rather than getting her a mediocre one I gave her my 9500pro and got a 9800pro. This was in July last year when a 9800pro was $180 after rebate.

I agree. Just add another 512 stick and go with the 6600gt. $250 should be able to cover both. And if you sell the 9500Pro, you can pocket the money for later upgrades.

No comments about the ram?

Well, a 512mb stick is $45.

At this point, it seems to make more sense to go that route, not have the rebate hassle, get it from a [IMHO] better brand, and save a slot if you want 512 or more.

I just cant believe how cheap stuff has gotten. I remember back in the day when ram was almost $2 a mb, and then oooh $1 a mb, now its insanely cheap, everything is.... 200gb HD's for $99 (even less if u find a OD/OM/Staples deal) just crazy stuff.

Yah, and I can still buy a new car for $3400.

Man, do I ever need to replace my 87' D'ville

Oh, yah, I logged on to:
"Thank OP" I got this for a cheap kid's education sw pc.

I have read a lot of complaints from people who never received their Patriot rebates from wayyy back. I canceled my RAM order after reading them.

If the rebates are really bad(slow or worse), I'm sure Newegg will step in to correct the problem.

Also, 9500--->9800 Pro is not a bad upgrade IMO.

Yah, like they did with my Soyo mainboard?
CANCELLED.

The year is 2005. Nobody should be paying more than $100 for any version of the 9xxx series of ATI cards.

Sorry guys, I dont know too much about ram.

I checked online at crucial, and my dell dimension 4700 takes 240-pin 256MB PC-3200 DDR ram. So I am concluding that the 184-pin 256MB PC-3200 Patriot wont fit right?

He's not saying that the 9xxx cards are selling for 100 bucks he's just saying that they aren't worth more then 100 which is a bit extreme i'd say they aren't worth more then 120 since you can get a 6600gt for ~165 AR now adays if you get a good deal
