On my P4 1.8a at 2.4ghz I'm using a single Samsung PC2700/DDR333 stick at default settings by SPD (cas 2.5 I assume) and I get 2474/2473 on SiSandra so performance among the DDR333 sticks at default speeds they all seem to perform about the same.

Well I have a Twinmos 256Mb PC2100 stick, running this at a FSB 211! it gives the score of 2887/2578 on SiSoft Sandra 2002.

You can see all the information at slapps.com

When running the stick at a FSB of 184 set at cas2, 3,5,3 1T,
cpu XP1800@1751, it gives me pretty good scores on my Leadtek GF3 Ti200. Benchmarking with the 3DMark2001se gives us a solid 9710 points.

Those results can be viewed at slapps.com as well

That's pretty good considering that Kingmax isn't too shabby. Well now we see why Corsair's 2700 cost more than most.

please keep in mind that these tests were run on a SiS645 chipset. if these tests were run on a i845 or a via im sure it would be a much different race.
it ended up being a "which ram is better on a SiS645 motherboard" test then a "which ram is better" test.
this is in no way an excuse for the kingmax - but i have to admit that the Corsair XMS gets along much better with the SiS645 chipset then the Kingmax does.

also keep in mind that the Corsair XMS costs about 20% more $ too.
both brands can dance at 400DDR - which will soon be their most important feature. (IMHO)

FYI, i run my Samsung PC2700 (ddr333) on my P4S333 (and 1.8A) @ 220 (x2), with 3:5 divider and SPD setting.

Am I missing something??? I don't think that is impressive at all....The score difference is minimal and most likely neglible....most won't run the fsb at those speeds cause the pci devices will be too far out of spec....

Factor in the cost of the corsair and I am the one smiling with my kingmax....

Maybe as thugs pointed out this may get better with other non sis boards...maybe boards that can better handle cas2 settings of 333mhz ddr....

otherwise the 25-30 percent plus more you guys paid for the corsair was a bit of a waste

Duvie - its not really the boards fault. it can run cas2225-1t with the corsair all day but cant even boot at those settings with the kingmax. the board is much happier with the corsair thats for sure. the cas2225-1t settings make a huge improvement too.

Corsair XMS 2700 ain't the best one. Corsair XMS looks cool n sexy but the RAM oc'ed performance isn't the best although it does its job of CAS222 upto 185mhz FSB. Beyond that, it struggles in terms of tweaking to the faster ram timings. Also, it tops out@ 210mhz fsb. Both TwinMOS and Samsong 2700s perform better than the Corsair XMS2700 for the same ram oc'ed speeds. TwinMOS 2700& Samsung 2700 top out@ 220+mhz fsb.
Kingmax pc2700 gets dogged by Corsair though. OCZ 2700& 3000 does okay... but not that impressive. Corsair seem to beat OCZ.

To make this clearer, the top two DDR rams are: TwinMOS and Samsung based on the reviews I have seen. Corsair XMSvs. TwinMOS vs. Samsung vs. OCZ, vs. Kingmax vs. more..

I'm very interested in Mushkin PC3200. I've been looking around... for reviews, but they're not seem to be out yet. I'll be getting the Mushkin PC3200 and will see what this beast can do. Time will tell.

MilkPowderR please keep in mind this isnt a review. these are real tests done on a real system. my only point is that Corsair XMS is way better then Kingmax.

the Cas222 at any speed makes a huge improvement, but the real kicker is the 1T setting. the 1T setting is worth 1/2 of the increase by iteslf.

if i ever get ahold of some TwinMOS, Samsung, or OCZ - ill be sure to post my results ;)

Man! My Kingmax tops out at 378DDR with any voltage(up to 2.9V)!!! One of the most mediocore sticks I've heard of!

I'll trade my Kingmax ram for yours!!! :D

***If you seriously are just going to sell your Kingmax, I'd consider a paying a few bucks to trade...

i just saw OCZ now advertizes PC3200 CL2 on pricewatch, i dont know whether its a lawsuit waiting to happen because the merchants are lieing again or if they just released it

i would also like to point out that the corsair is double the density of the other chip, higher density chips are supposed to be harder to OC.
