29.99 is a good price for PC2100 but I've heard the MSI KT3 Ultra is pretty picky on RAM so I'm not sure if Fry's generic PC2100 is good enough.

Good deal on the mobo, BTW. I'm thinking of getting one myself. KT333 with onboard RAID for 79.99, can't beat that price.

Do you know if it runs XP2200+ out of the box? or do I have to update the BIOS first?

totally didn't mean to thread crap.

It's just that everyone around here's always talking about overclocking this, overclocking that, this frys ram just won't cut it. if you're not looking to do any of that, then congrats, you got a good deal.

For the most part, I've had good experiences using Fry's generic RAM. However, I have a stick of 256 ddr 2100 generic that I tried to use in a ECS K7S5A mobo (another Fry's special), the board absolutely refused to boot with it. I knew the RAM was good, worked in my computer MSI mobo, worked in my bro's computer FIC mobo, but for some reason just wouldn't work in the ECS board.

If it works, then great! That's a good deal especially considering how much ram prices have shot up. If you have a picky mobo, good luck finding another deal this cheap.

Thumbs up for the MSI KT3-ARU. I grabbed the last one at Fry's in the City of Industry.

FYI - I had a tough time with this motherboard and Crucial memory. Windows XP would not load no matter what setting I tried. I stuck a stick of Samsung memory in it and it worked flawlessly. Just my experience....

I just picked some up, it had LEI chips in it, but it was 7ns. I stuck it in my 8k3a and worked fine even on the most aggressive timings all the way up to 145 mhz. For 30 dollar ram, I think that is just fine.

I also picked up a stick of those $29.99 from Frys, but mine uses Infinion Chips instead, which runs really well on my K7S5a. I'm running them at Ultra setting with CL 2 settings at 138mhz along with my Mushkin 512mb. If i just use the Infinion stick (256mb) alone I can even run stable at Fast setting with CL2.5 at 150mhz for CPU/RAM. My other friend got a stick also but it's uses LEi chips instead, which really piss my friend off cause it freeze his system at even the slowest ram setting, he's going back this week for some with Infinion chips instead.

I am banned from frys. :( Stupid juvenile delinquent act. Oh well, i just can't go back to that frys. Are u sure the ram is $30? I just checked my bay area fys ad which includes the campbell store says the ram is $42! Also, on the ba ad, saw xp 2000+ oem w/ msi k7t 266 pro2a for only $150. Nice price.

I wonder what is preventing frys from expanding? They don't wanna make money? Or is it the AT effect
