any advice will be appreciated...

Which brand is better in RAM, Crucial or Kingston...or any other brands that you can recommend?
I am going to put some more stick on the computer..It needs PC133. right now it's got 128MB. I think 128 more will cover the most jobs that I am doing and some games over the internet..do you think I need more?

thanks in advance.

I've never used Kingston, however, crucial has never failed me. They overclock well, and at thier price plus free shipping, you can't go wrong. 256MB should be fine unless you like to use photoshop or things along that line. You can go to Crucial's Website and select your motherboard or computer type(in case its a Gateway, Dell, etc.) If you already have a cas2 stick, I recommend you get another one.

Thanks for the great one.
I am kind of newbie here so dont know much about some specification..
I dont know whether the stick is CL2 or 3. I heard that CL2 performs faster initially, but not after that...
is it ok if i mix up, like CL2 and CL3?

you should always get more RAM than you think you'll need...you might as well go with 256Mb, esp with the way prices are right now.

and yes, you can mix cas2 and cas3 sticks...

edit: i've used both kingston and crucial and they both work great. just try and find the best deal on what you need. that's how i usually choose...

It's okie to run both Cas2 and CAs3 RAM together at Cas3 settings but if you wanna push both the sticks to Cas2, it would be hard depending on the quality of the Cas3 stick. Cas2 will always perform at Cas2 and is always faster than Cas3. It takes 2 cycles to read an instruction rather than 3 cycles.

I thought I dont need more than 128... I think I should seriously think about a 256 stick...but need to consider the money factor. thanks

I use crucial on both my machine and it's very stable.
I just bought 3x 256 PC2100 DDR for my new workstation.

They are very reliable memory, cheap, and free shiping :)

Dude!

Just went to Crucial's site and they're gonna end free shipping. I knew it was too good to last. Before it ends, I'm gonna pick up an extra 256 MBs, at these prices I can't afford not to!

I am running a 128 mb stick of Kingston Valueram PC-133 (cas3) with a 128 mb stick of Crucial PC-133 (cas2) in my MSI K7T Turbo at cas 2 with no problems at all. I would choose Crucial cas 2 just to be on the safe side, but Kingston works fine as well. The Kingston may not run at cas2 on all motherboards, and also would depend on which chips come on the stick you get. If it is infinion chips, it should run cas2. My stick came with Toshiba chips and it is also running cas2. I have heard that the nanya chips won't do cas2 at 133 on the kingston ram. I haven't heard of anyone not getting 133 at cas2 with the Crucial cas2 rated ram.

I'd definitely go with Crucial if choosing between the two. Generally, I stick with Crucial, Kingston, or Infineon. I've always had good luck with those three.
