I have heard it is possible to use one module of PC100 RAM along side a PC133 on the same 440BX board.

Others tell me this may be disasterous.

Any thoughts?

Yes, along as you run it at the slowest spped of the two, i.e. 100MHz

No worries, mate.

Assuming the PC100 module is really the "weaker" of the two (which surprisingly sometimes may not be the case), that will be the common denominater for your memory's performance.

Shouldn't be a problem as long as you set up the fsb at the level where the pc100 ram is capable of running.

If you're letting your motherboard autodetect the CAS settings it may be necessary to have the slower stick in the first slot, if you set them yourself just be aware of what your PC100 is rated for. If it's CAS 3 and your PC133 is CAS 2, don't be surprised if you have to run them both at CAS 3. No harm in trying CAS 2 though, you can always go back to 3 if you have problems.

i wouldn't worry. got a "PC66" module running alongside 2 PC100s at 92 mhz. no probs at all on my dual cellies... chips are pretty darn resilent these days at varying frequencies...
