Hi,

Right now I've got the $$$ for a 1.2Ghz T-bird and a KT133a MB but not enought to buy the pc133 or pc150 memory to go with it. I need the new chip and board immediately (my old system is beginning to flake out on me) and I was wondering if it is possible to run the new chip and MB with my old pc100 memory. Would this require me to underclock the whole FSB or would I be able to just clock down the memory bus?

I'm fairly sure with some motherboards (the ABit KT7A for example) that you can set the memory and FSB at differnt rates... 100 and 133 for example, so to answer your question, yes you can run the memory at a different speed.

Actually, they mentioned this problem in the review of the Abit KT7A-RAID over at HardOCP. The reviewer said that he couldn't find a way to get it to work and that he was going to check with Abit about it. I was kind of hoping someone here who just got one of the new kt133a MBs (Abit or otherwise) might be able to respond with a final answer.
