PC won't use corded keybd after having had a cordless one

So I have this HTPC with a Logitech cordless keyboard; the transceiver for the keyboard hooks up via the USB port. When my brother visits we like to bring the HTPC downstairs and hook it up to monitor/wired keybd/speakers so he can join in on some LAN gaming. Unfortunately, it won't recognize the corded keyboard. Have to use the wireless keyboard.

Now this is really more of an irritation since it works fine with the wireless keybd, but I'd like to know why I can't switch back and forth between the wireless keybd and the regular keybd. Any ideas?

is the corded keyboard USB as well? or is it PS/2?
if it's PS/2 then you might have blown up the port. That can happen if you hot swap the keyboard

cordless keyboard is USB
corded keyboard is PS2

rather avoid clearing the CMOS; I had to mess around a lot with memory settings (lowering them) to get this PC to be stable

the comp doesn't know a keyboard is cordless...

never ever ever ever use usb keyboard or mouse.. always use ps2

p.s. never had problems with hot swapping keyboard, although prevous versions of windows like to lock up when that happened
