PC won't switch on. PSU or Motherboard?

My PC won't switch on any more. I've opened up the case and noticed the green LED on my motherboard is light up with the PSU connected, this I'd imagine rules out a faulty power cable/fuse in plug etc. I've also tried shorting the two power-on pins on the motherboard directly, which I think rules out the on-button on my computer case.

So I think it's either the motherboard or PSU. Anyone have any ideas what this could be? With the PSU fully connected I'm getting the green LED light on my mobo, so it's diffinitely getting some sort of power. Anyone have this issue before?

That may just indicate stand-by voltage. Have you tried unplugging the ps, then re-trying? Do you have a meter to check output with?

Yep, tried taking everything apart and putting back together. I've tried it with just mobo, CPU and RAM connected, nothing more, then hooked up PSU with that config (both main power connector and smaller 4 pin one). Still doesn't power up, although the green LED still shows.

I don't have a meter I'm afraid.

Motherboard Manufacturer with BIOS Revision and Model:

ASUS A8N32 SLI nForce4 x16 (not sure which BIOS but I did update it to latest one about 6 months ago ish)
Athlon X2 3800 (2.6GHz) 989 Socket
2x 1GB Corsair C2XMS DDR400
Antec TruePower 2.0 480W

Okay.
1. as per corsair, that ram is not considered compatible.
2. you're running the last bios for it so far.
3. you're using a PSU with a 24 connectore and the seperate 4 pin correct?

I am not sure what the molex plug next to the ram is, the link for the manual is failing, so I am not sure if that needs to be connected as well.

1. This system has worked fine for a year and just now stopped working, no hardware changes were made, including the memeory.
3. It's a 24pin PSU and a 24pin motherboard (Edit: forgot to add, yes I'm using the 4pin as well)

As for the extra power connector thing, I think it's suppose to provide an extra power boost to PCI-Express graphic cards that don't have their own power connector (mid range/lower end cards that are just outside the PCI-Express spec so to speak). My X1900XT uses it's own power connector on the board anyway. Like it said it's been that way for a year anyway, and only now stoppped working.

I would not dismiss the memory possibility, but I would like to see what the power levels are at once it is running. what devices are connected via USB, 1391, SATA, IDE? both internally and externally?
