Since I got my Epox EP-8K7A K7 mainboard my screen just goes black after I choose Shut Down | Restart, exit the BIOS, or hit CTRL+ALT+DEL on startup. Shutdown | Shutdown works fine. I had a Diamond Viper V550, and was told that the old TNT1's weren't happy with AMD Tbirds, etc.; however, I just installed a VisionTek GeForce 3 but the problem hasn't gone away. I've tried several different Nvidia driver releases, installed the 4in1's, AGP miniport, etc.

Maybe I need to change some power management, etc. settings in the BIOS pertaining to video, but I think I've toggled most of them without any luck. Disabling ACPI isn't an option. Any ideas? TIA.

Yes, updated it to the latest one that was released on 5/21/2001.

Off topic... Are you annoyed too by that "If this banner is flashing, you've won!" banner? I worry about those with epilepsy... :( I must be a lucky guy, because I win every day. ;)

My PC still won't restart properly. I think I've toggled just about every relevant setting in the BIOS, etc. but still get the blank screen. My monitor flashes "Power Save" for a second, then does nothing except blink the power light at me... The same monitor connected to any other system doesn't blank on restart. I don't hear the hard drive crunching either, so it seems to be a bigger issue than just no video...

I replaced my TNT1 Diamond Viper V550 with a VisionTek GF3, but the problem persists. I've changed power settings for video from the default DPMS Support to V/H Sync + Blank -- and every other setting available.

What am I missing? Hitting the reset button every time I tell my PC to restart, exit the BIOS, or give it the three finger salute is getting old. TIA.
