Hey all, Building my pops a computer. I bought him a E6850, Asus p5k, and a hard drive.

Anyway his old computer wouldn't start. The fans came on but it would not go into the bios at all. Flashed the bios several times. Nothing happened. He has 4 gb of ddr2 800 and I took them out and tried single chip, etc. I even tried my video card from my machine and same problem.

So he was in the upgrade mood anyway we bought the stuff I listed above including a new case. Installed everything in the case and when I boot up the same problem happens.

I was wondering. Even though the fans come on. Could the power supply be the problem? It is I believe 3 years old.

Also the case I bought came with several fans the Antec Nine Hundred, but no small adapters to put them to the chas connectors on the motherboard. So ATM I only have the cpu fan plug in the motherboard.

Any help would be appricated.
 
Case didn't come with one, but I believe the one he has is a 500 watt phantom or something. On his older computer I even tried putting the MB outside the case and still wouldn't go.

Was thinking of buying this Enermax EIN720AWT Infiniti 720W. Zipzoom has it with a 50 dollar rebate for a total of 119
 
Thanks for everyone's help. I ended up buying the corsair 750 power supply. Installed it and was able to get right to the bios.

New problem though. Installed windows xp and got this BSOD upon first boot
c000022 hard error
Systemroot\system32\ntdll.dll


Only things hooked up to the computer atm is a CDRW drive, mouse, keyboard, ati video card, onboard sound, lan and the maxtor 500gb hd.

Tried removing the CDRW, mouse and keyboard and still same error. Disabled in bios the lan and audio as well.

Any ideas?
