PC won't POST after cleaning.

I cleaned out all the gunk and dust from my case, as well as installed a new HDD.

I redid alot of the cable management, and plugged everything back in.

Now, the motherboard light comes on (ASUS P6X58D-E) when the PSU is turned on, so I'm guessing PSU is fine. Still, no power when you press the power switch.

Keep on mind the system has worked fine for quite some time.

What should I be looking for first?

Are you getting any power at all when you press power? If not, you'll want to redo all your cables. If you're getting power but no POST, I'd try reseating all cards and memory, then try again.

Yup, what Avalon said.

Specifically...if pushing the power button on the case does nothing, you'll want to check the motherboard header where the case plugs into it.

Thanks for both of the responses!

I'd unplugged and replugged reverything, testing to see if it would power on with only minimal things plugged in along the way. I ended up going out and purchasing a new PSU (this one was 4 years+ anyway).

With the new PSU, and bare minimum plugs in the motherboard, it booted! But, once everything was plugged in, it didn't.

So I retraced my steps, and upon closer examination, a bad fan power connector (the same which plug into older IDE HDDs) had a loose internal metal piece. I tried booting without that fan; success!

So, one problem might have led to the other, but in the end, there were two factors.

Thanks again for the input!
