PC won't boot

Hey Guys,
So this pc has been sitting idle for a few months. I go to turn it on and nothing. I opened it up and checked all the connectors, and everything is connected properly and securely. the led on the board that indicates power is getting to the board didn't turn on. I figured it was a dead power supply. No worries I swapped it out with a new one. Still no power to the baord.

Do you think it could be a dead power connector on the board?

What else can I try?

What is your computer plugged into (wall socket/surge protector)? Is that working? Plug a lamp or something else that you know is working into the socket to make sure it is supplying power. After that, make sure the power supply works by plugging it into a computer that you know is working. Then when you plug your psu back into the motherboard make sure all the connectors are connected the correct way, and make sure your power button is connected to the motherboard properly. You should also make sure the motherboard is still properly mounted and that it isn't shorted out.

Hi SMC13,
I tried using different power cables, different wall sockets. Made sure the wall sockets as well as the cables were functioning properly. I made sure all the cables were seated securely on the mlb.

The PC was running previously so I don't think it is shorting.

any other Ideas?

perhaps when the PC was idle for so long, something came and shorted the entire thing out...

I had this problem at work with a PC about a month ago.

came in one day after the PC was sitting idle, no power, no nothing

couple of hours later, diagnosis was RAM was fried, PSU, CPU, and mobo, all trash.

replaced all those parts and PC works fine again. That's just my experiences anyways though... your results may vary 😛

yeah, I think the mlb is toast. I am gonna try swapping it out and go from there.
Thanks bud.
