PC Wont Boot Up After Cleaning the Fans/Heatsink

Hi all,

My first post and unfortunately it's for a major problem -- My PC does not boot after cleaning the cooling system.

I tried cleaning the cooling system (fan & heatsink) of my PC because it was crashing lately for several times with no apparrent error.

So I opened the case, and it was infact dirty and clogged up with lumps of dusts. I removed the fans, underneath was the heatsink which was covered with thick dust as well. What follows might have been the cause of problem. I wanted to clean it thoroughly with a brush (dry). So I freed it from the clamps and pulled it out, and to my surprise -- the CPU is attached to it, underneath. I've cleaned my other two desktop PCs and usually the CPU stays on the mobo. I really thought it was odd.

After dusting it, I then started putting everything back to where it was (carefully aligned the pins, no broken ones, re-attached the clamps, then the fans back, etc). Then when I powered it on -- it doesnt boot up. It has power (led, fans, hdd spinning, etc) but nothing on the screen -- blank.

So guys, I'm imploring for your help and asking for your expertise to find some way to solve my problem! Please... 🙁

Thanks!

Please have a look at the pics of the setup:

Help! 🙁

Reseat the memory & any expansion cards (PCI, PCIe, AGP, etc). Double check to make sure no molex connectors are partly connected also...

Did you remove the cpu from the heatsink and then undo the lever on the side of the socket before putting it back in?
