PC won't boot. Monitor stays in standby mode

Sigh, it seems I have run into yet another problem. During a LAN party which went on some 3 hours ago, while playing SWAT 4 my PC froze and the sound started looping. After resetting it I couldn't get it to boot, with the LCD staying in standby mode. After resetting the PSU I was able to get into Vista, however, seeing as both the mouse and keyboard were unresponsive I was forced into another reset. Afterwards the most I have been able to achieve was getting the monitor to activate and display a blank black screen, without even getting into BIOS. Even that has become unattainable, seeing as during the latest tries I haven't been able to get the monitor to wake up.

I'm really at a loss here. I tried to boot up without a HDD and optical drives, but to no avail. If it matters I replaced my PS2 keyboard with an USB one during the party. Unfortunately I can't test it with the old kb as it's connectors are utterly bent and unusable.

I have no idea what to do here. I guess I'm going to have to take my precious PC to a service, but I don't really feel like shelving out cash for some trivial error. If anybody has any ideas or suggestions I would really appreciate it

If it's of any importance my specs are as follows. E8400, 4GB RAM, GTX 280 and Asus X38 motherboard

Well I got a techie to come by and it turns out one of the RAM sticks was faulty. Now I'll have to brave a month with 2GB of RAM until my warranty kicks in. Anyway thanks for the help.
