I can still play old games on my new PC. You are far more limited when trying to play old games on a new console.
I can still play some 20 year old games on my PC. You can't do that on any console.
Yes and no. Having never played the original Fallout, I was interested to see that GameFly had it as an option that is free for members like myself. I was all set to give it a spin when I see the little note: "Display issues on Windows 7".
So I'd either have to try and find a computer running older versions of Windows or set up a VM and that's a whole separate hassle. Same goes for all the old games that try and directly access the hardware, which won't run, at all, on a protected mode OS like XP, Vista, 7, or 8. It can be done, but let's be honest, it may be child's play for most of us here, but there are a great many people who would never have a prayer.
On a side note, this is something I wish Valve would do with Steam. Either make it a requirement of the game being offered that the developer update the game to work on the current supported versions of Windows (so XP-8), even if that means just wrapping it in some kind of a VM like DOSBox, or at least require game developers to provide Valve with a list of supported platforms so that the Steam client could then implement some very basic checks to ensure compatibility. So if I wanted to buy the Fallout collection of games, it would check and see that I'm running Windows 7 and pop up with a dialog box saying there are known issues with this game and OS combo, check the forum section for details, do I still want to buy it.
Back on the topic however, all of this is just me humoring you with your giant straw man, because I very specifically said NEW games, and said absolutely nothing at all about OLD games.

Even more than that, I was humoring the OP with what I can only hope was intended to be a trolling post.
